ELMER HANNUSCH (Alfred, Theobald, Johannes, Ignac, Josef)

Elmer Hannusch was born February 13, 1911, on the family farm, located along the Blair Road, in Blair, Ontario.

Raised to maturity under the influence and routine labors of the family farm, he gained his formal education at the nearby English Settlement School.

In the business world his interest was guided toward the construction industry, an occupation that soon narrowed down to highway contracting. In this endeavor he was last employed by E & E Seegmiller.

On June 13, 1936, Elmer Hannusch stood before the alter of the Roman Catholic Church where he exchanged the vows of marriage with Edna Dankwardt, the daughter of Frederick and Freda (Kurt) Dankwardt. Children: Kenneth Hannusch. After his marriage Elmer Hannusch and his family became lifetime residents of the town of Berlin-Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.

On April 26, 1979, his wife of 43 years, Edna (Dankwardt) Hannusch, passed away in Kitchener, Ontario. Two years later, on July 15, 1981, Elmer Hannusch followed her to the grave.

 

LANGDON HANNUSCH (Alfred, Theobald, Johannes, Ignac, Josef)

Langdon Hannusch was born on March 8, 1912, at the family farm, located along the Blair Road, in Blair, Ontario.

He was raised amid the labors of the farm until the age of twenty-two, while, from 1917 to 1925 he attended the nearby English Settlement School.

On his own, in the business world, he drove a gravel truck for an uncle until 1944.

On October 1, 1944, Langdon Hannusch stood before the alter of the Roman Catholic Church and exchanged the vows of marriage with Agnes Meyer, the daughter of Victor and Lillian (Helm) Meyer. Children: 1) Betty Hannusch; 2) Dorothy Hannusch; 3) Karen Hannusch; 4) Joan Hannusch. Following his marriage, Langdon Hannusch and his family became lifetime residents of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.

Following his marriage Langdon Hannusch took employment with the Carling Brewery, a job that served him well until his retirement in 1977.

Langdon Hannusch died on June 18, 1988, at Kitchener, Ontario.

 

LORNE HANNUSCH (Alfred, Theobald, Johannes, Ignac, Josef)

Lorne Hannusch was born on March 27, 1913, on the family farm located along the Blair Road, in Blair, Ontario, where he was raised amid the chores and labors of an active farm.

He attended the English Settlement School into the mid 1920's. In the business world Lorne Hannusch took up the profession of press operator, Butler Metals and Stamping of Cambridge, Ontario one of his major employers.

October 10, 1938, Lorne Hannusch exchanged the vows of marriage with Mildred Christine Cress, the daughter of Samuel and Mary Magdalene (Massel) Cress. Children: 1) Russell David Hannusch; 2) Stephen John Hannusch. They were lifetime residents of Blair and (Galt-Preston) Cambridge, Ontario.

On December 1, 1984, Lorne Hannusch passed away in Cambridge, Ontario. Four years later, on May 22, 1988, his wife, Mildred Christine (Cress) Hannusch, followed him to the grave.

 

EDGAR HANNUSCH (Alfred, Theobald, Johannes, Ignac, Josef)

Edgar Hannusch was born on June 13, 1914, on the family farm located along the Blair Road, in Blair, Ontario, and was raised in the influence of routine farm chores and agricultural labors. He attended the English Settlement School from 1920 to 1930.

From 1930 to 1939 he worked on his neighbor's farms as a hired farm hand. From 1939 to 1949 he drove truck for Farwell Sand and Gravel.

On October 12, 1946, Edgar Hannusch stood before the alter of the Roman Catholic Church and exchanged vows of marriage with Margaret Findlay, the daughter of William and Frances (Smith) Findley. Children: Wayne Hannusch. Following their marriage the couple became residents of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.

From 1949 until his retirement, in 1979, he worked in the machine shop for the Dominion Rubber Company, later called the Uniroyal Rubber Company.

In November of 1982, his wife of 36 years, Margaret (Findlay) Hannusch, died in Kitchener, Ontario, and is buried at Woodland Cemetery, Kitchener. Ontario. Edgar Hannusch died on January 27, 1988, and was laid to rest beside his wife.

 

ISOBEL RUTH HANNUSCH (Alfred, Theobald, Johannes, Ignac, Josef)

Isobel Hannusch was born on October 24, 1915, at the family farm located along the Blair Road, in Blair, Ontario, and was raised to maturity the only daughter among eight brothers.

She attended the English Settlement School through eight grades and continued High School at St.Clement's School, in Preston, Ontario.

At the age of twenty Isobel Hannusch left home and settled in Kitchener, Ontario. Here she accepted work at the Merchant's (now Uniroyal) Rubber factory.

On July 22, 1939, Isobel Hannusch stood before the alter of the Roman Catholic Church and exchanged the vows of marriage with Walter Meyer, the son of Peter and Emma (Meyer) Meyer. Children: Janice Meyer, m. August 24, 1973, John Wallitschek, she is a respiratory technician in Phoenix, Arizona.

In about 1942 Isobel (Hannusch) Meyer took work at the T. Eaton Co. Store. A few years later she moved to the Kitchener-Waterloo Stockyards where she remained employed until retirement eighteen years later. Both were part time employment.

On February 22, 1970, her husband of thirty years, Walter Meyer, passed away.

Golf has become her main enjoyment in retirement, a member of the Dundee Golf and Contry Club. She never remarried. Upkeep becoming a problem, thus she sold her home before the close of the century, and moved into an apartment in Kitchener.

A resident of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, since 1935, Isobel (Hannusch) Meyer passed away there in February 17, 2005.

 

JAMES HANNUSCH (Alfred, Theobald, Johannes, Ignac, Josef)

James Hannusch was born on July 4, 1919, at the family farm located on the Blair Road, Blair, Ontario, and raised to maturity under the influence of the family farm.

He attended the English Settlement School through eight grades.

At the age of twenty years he began to work at various jobs in the town of Galt, Ontario. In June of 1943 he began to work, as a baker, for Fischer's Bakery, a job he held until his retirement in 1965. He never married. James Hannusch with his employment James Hannusch became a resident of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.

He spent several years as a resident, in Kitchener, Ontario, of the Sunnyside Senior Citizens Home and Pinehaven Nursing Home in that city.

James Hannusch died on March 19, 1997, at the Pinehaven, Nursing Home, Kitchener, Ontario, Canada

 

JOHN HERBERT HANNUSCH (Alfred, Theobald, Johannes, Ignac, Josef)

John Hannusch was born on June 16, 1922, at the family farm located on the Blair Road, in Blair, Ontario, and raised to maturity under the influence of an active farm. He attended the English Settlement School until graduation at grade eight.

On March 6, 1940, John Hannusch enlisted in the R.C.A.F. He served first in Ontario and Nova Scotia, Canada before being based overseas in Yorkshire and Lancashire, England. He was discharged following the end of hostilities in 1945.

In 1947 John Hannusch worked for the Carling Brewing Company in Waterloo, Ontario and resided with his sister at 131 Mill Street, in Kitchener, Ontario. Later that same year he was employed by the Canadian Customs Office, in Kitchener, Ontario.

On June 27, 1953, John Hannusch stood before the alter of the Roman Catholic Church and exchanged the vows of marriage with Helen Leahy, the daughter of Edwin and Hanna (Corran) Leahy of Huntingdon, Quebec. Children: 1) Jeffrey Hannusch; 2) Sandra Hannusch.

They took up residence at 918 Union Street in Kitchener, Ontario. In December 1960, John Hannusch moved his family to 69 Cypress Drive, Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, a home which served his family throughout his life.

August 9, 1986, John Hannusch retired from the Department of Canadian Customs and turned his attention to golf and travel.

In declining health, John Hannusch was hospitalized in the summer of 2005 and succumbed to his illness on September 29, 2005, in Kitchener, Ontario.

 

LEONARD WILLIAM HANNUSCH (Alfred, Theobald, Johannes, Ignac, Josef)

Leonard Hannusch was born on January 6, 1925, on the family farm located on the Blair Road, Blair, Ontario, and raised to maturity amid the labors and daily chores of an active farm. He attended school at the English Settlement School of Waterloo Township.

He worked in Ontario and British Columbia as an auto mechanic from 1945 to 1960.

On September 6, 1952, in the western Canadian Province of British Columbia, Leonard Hannusch stood before the alter of the Roman Catholic Church and exchanged to vows of marriage with Joyce Patricia Granbois, daughter of Franklin and Ida (Olsen) Granbois. Children: 1) Allan James Hannusch; 2) Nancy Lynn Hannusch; 3) Gregory Barth Hannusch.

From 196l to 1970 Leonard Hannusch worked as an excavating contractor and in l97l directed his attention to the labors of an H. D. Mechanic.

He resided with his family in White Rock, British Columbia, Canada. It was here that he passed away in November 2004.

 

RAYMOND CLARE HANNUSCH (Alfred, Theobald, Johannes, Ignac, Josef)

Raymond Hannusch was born on the family farm located along the Blair Road, in Blair, Ontario, and was raised to maturity in that environment. He attended the English Settlement School of Waterloo Township.

A lifelong resident of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, Raymond Hannusch was employed by B.F. Goodrich Rubber Company from 1946 to 1982.

December 1, 1952, Raymond Hannusch stood before the alter of the Roman Catholic Church and exchanged the vows of marriage with Dorothy Dorscht, daughter of Jacob and Jean (Bauman) Dorscht. Children: 1) Wendy Marie Hannusch; 2) David Michael Hannusch; 3) Julie Elizabeth Hannusch; 4) Timothy Raymond Hannusch.

On April 3, 2009, Raymond Hannusch passed away peacefully at Freeport Health Centre, Grand River Hospital in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada

 

ROMAN HANNUSCH (Arthur, Theobald, Johannes, Ignac, Josef)

Roman Hannusch was born on August 16, 1909, in his grandparents home, at 66 Bloucher Street, in Berlin, Ontario. He was raised to the age of nine years in that city and on his parent's farm on the Blair Road before his father died in 1918.

His teens were spent under the care of his mother. Out in the business world he learned the trade of "Tool and Die Maker," and soon moved to the City of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

On June 28, 1928, Roman Hannusch exchanged the vows of marriage with Clara Herrgott, the daughter of Jacob and Maryanne (Schuett) Herrgott. Children: 1) Doris Hannusch; 2) Audrey Hanish; 3) Peter Hanish.

For business reasons, in about 1937, Roman Hannusch changed his family name to Hanish. He then resided and worked in the City of Detroit, Michigan briefly, before returning to Canada.

Roman and Clara Hanish separated, in 1944, and after 1949 he vanished and was not heard from again.

A declaration of death was filed in l964, granted July 13, 1964. Clara Hanish then married Kenneth Battrick.

 

REGINALD HANNUSCH (Herbert, Theobald, Johannes, Ignac, Josef)

Reginald Hannusch was born on February 16, 1916, in the city of Berlin, Ontario and raised to maturity in the communities of Kitchener and Waterloo, Ontario. He attended the local schools.

He worked forty-four years at the J. M. Schneider Inc. meatpacking plant, in Kitchener, Ontario, and retired from there in February 1981.

On July 6, 1940, Reginald Hannusch exchanged the vows of marriage with Elizabeth Simpson, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Tennant) Simpson. Children: June Hannusch.

They were lifelong residents of Kitchener, Ontario. He was a social member of the Schwaben Club of Kitchener.

His wife of fifty years, Elizabeth (Simpson) Hannusch, passed away May 12, 1991, in Kitchener, Ontario. She is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Kitchener, Ontario.

Following his wife's death, Reginald Hannusch moved to Cambridge, Ontario where on March 31, 1996, he died at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital.

 

ARMANDINE HANNUSCH (Herbert, Theobald, Johannes, Ignac, Josef)

Armandine Hannusch was born at Kitchener, Ontario, on December 21, 1917, and raised to maturity in that community.

Her education was gained in the school system of Kitchener, Ontario and concluded with two years at the Kitchener Collegiate Institute.

She went to work at the Kaufman Rubber Plant, shoe division, until her marriage.

On June 19, 1937, Armandine Hannusch stood before the alter of the Roman Catholic Church, in Michigan, and exchanged the vows of marriage with Gordon Joseph Leon, the son of Morris and Reta Leon. Children: 1) Virginia Ann Leon, m. on October 12, 1963, Graeme Roy Jans; their children Gordon Robert Jans and Christopher Michael Jans; 2) Carolyn Cecilia Ann Leon, in Oshawa, Ontario; m. on February 24, 1968, David Gillings; children Michael Gillings. Paul Gillings Dulcie Gillings; 3) Susan Adrienne Leon born in Kitchener, Ontario. Except for brief periods they were lifetime residents of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.

She left the work field, after her marriage, to take the time to raise her family and handle the office work in her husband's, "Children's Photography" Business. Armandine Hannusch was a member of the "Sweet Adelines," while, her husband was a charter member of the "Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Singing in America."

On November 19, 1980, her husband of 43 years, Gordon Leon, died from the complications from surgery. Armandine (Hannusch) Leon, three years later, suffered a massive stroke and on October 9, 1983, she passed away. They are buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in Kitchener, Ontario.

 

BERTRAM HANNUSCH (Herbert, Theobald, Johannes, Ignac, Josef)

Bertram Hannusch was born on June 27, 1919, in Kitchener, Ontario, and raised to maturity in that environment. His education was gained in the local school system.

He worked in the field of pinball machine serviceman and then entered into a partnership as an owner of the machines. His pinball machines were established in several popular resorts.

In June 1942, Bertram Hannusch exchanged the vows of marriage with Dorothy Caskenette. Children: 1) Douglas Hannusch. 2) Patricia Hannusch.

On August 1, 1953, Bertram Hannusch was involved in a serious automobile accident, on a lonely stretch of road, about two miles from his home. When the accident was finally discovered it was too late. He died in the hospital, two days later, on August 3, 1953. His wife remarried three years after the tragedy and survived until April 4, 1991, in Kitchener, Ontario.

 

FRANKLIN HANNUSCH (Herbert, Theobald, Johannes, Ignac, Josef)

Franklin Hannusch was born in Kitchener, Ontario on March 15, 1923, and raised to maturity in that city. His education was gained through the local school system. He was a lifetime resident of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.

Exact dates and particulars are not clearly determined, but he served in the Royal Canadian Army, during World War II, and was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion.

Franklin Hannusch worked for his brother, Bertram, in his pinball machine business and later worked in the electrical business when the Canadian Hydro System was being converted from the sixty-cycle system. A long time employee of the Canadian Liquor Control board, Franklin Hannusch retired from that service in 1988.

He never married.

Franklin Hannusch died on February 2, 1992, at St. Mary's Hospital in Kitchener, Ontario.

 

RUSSELL GERALD HANNUSH (Alfonso, Theobald, Johannes, Ignac, Josef)

Russell Hannush was born on February 15, 1929, in the City of Detroit, Michigan, and raised to maturity in that environment. His education was gained in the public and parochial schools of that city with graduation from the Detroit Lutheran High School in 1947.

Packers Outlet Super Markets, Western Auto Warehouse, and the U.S. Post Office filled out his early work years.

In May 1951, he entered the U.S. Army, trained at Ft. Breckenridge, Kentucky, and served two years overseas in Linz and then Salzberg, Austria.

In September 1953, Russell Hannush join the Detroit Police Department, worked in the 3rd Precinct located at Hunt Street, Dubois and Gratiot Avenue; the 16th Precinct located at Grand River and Six Mile Road; the 10th Precinct on Livernois at Elmhurst. On promotion to Sergeant he was assigned to the 6th Precinct at McGraw and Martin from where he retired in October 1, 1977.

On July 22, 1954, Russell Hannush exchanged the vows of marriage with Barbara Jean Hock, adopted daughter of Joseph and Eva Hopf. Children: 1) Alan Joseph Hannush; 2) Jo Ann Hannush; 3) Colleen Rene Hannusch;4) Andrew Blair Hannusch.

Four homes in Michigan, including refinishing an abandon farm house in Fowlerville, served his family over the years. In July of 1978 he moved with his family to his present home in the suburban village of Arden (Asheville), North Carolina.

Retirement has developed from an interest in history into the labors on this work, other family genealogy research, and as a volunteer at the local Family Histoy Library.

 

VIRGINIA MAE HANNUSH (Alfonso, Theobald, Johannes, Ignac, Josef)

Virginia Hannush was born in Detroit, Michigan, on May 2, 1932, and raised to maturity in that environment. Her education was gained in that city, in public and parochial schools, with graduation from the Detroit Lutheran High School in 1950.

Following graduation she went to work for the Michigan Bell Telephone Company, Blue Book Department.

On June 8, 1954, Virginia Hannush exchanged vows of marriage with Raymond Wildes, son of Clarence and Semma (Sockness) Wildes of Northern Wisconsin. Children: 1) Kevin Wildes; m. Deborah Young; now living in Arlington, Texas with son Matthew Wildes; 2) Lawrence Wildes, m. Deborah Anderson; now living Charleston, Illinois; their children Tiffany Mae Wildes; Timothy Allen Wildes. 3) Thomas Wildes, m. Mary Young now the parents of two adopted children. They presently live in Virginia, Minnesota.

Homes in Detroit and St. Clair Shores served her growing family for better than a decade. In 1965 Virginia (Hannush) Wildes, and her family, removed to Rheinlander, Wisconsin to become owners of the "Rest-A-White" summer resort.

A few years later Virginia Wildes moved, with her children and mother, to Superior, Wisconsin. Here she worked as a bookkeeper and secretary in the Ship Chandlery business. She then went into business for herself, as a truck dispatcher, and resided in Superior, Wisconsin; Asheville, North Carolina; and is presently living in Virginia, Minnesota.

 

PETER JAMES HANNUSCH (Elimar, Theobald, Johannes, Ignac, Josef)

Peter Hannusch was born at the family farm on the Blair Road, Blair, Ontario on February 7, 1935, and raised to maturity through a series of farm properties and the family home in Galt, Ontario. He attended St. Mary's School, in Galt, Ontario and St. Clement's High School in Preston, Ontario.

In 1954 Peter Hannusch join the Royal Canadian Navy; was based in Halifax, Nova Scotia where he served aboard the H. M. C. S. carrier "Magnificent." They were sent to Belfast, Ireland, in 1957, to commission the carrier H. M. C. S. "Bonaventure." After serving on the latter ship briefly, he was assigned to three other ships before being discharge in 1959.

April 4, 1959, Peter Hannusch exchanged the vows of marriage with Joan Britton, the daughter of William Ernest and Alice (Plumtree) Britton. Children: 1) Michael Hannusch; 2) Ellen Hannusch; 3) Bradley Hannusch; 4) Darlene Hannusch.

Back home in Cambridge (the renamed combined towns of Galt and Preston) his profession as a welder fitter took him into many companies including the Galt Brass Co., Valleyblades, and presently Novewco of Canada Ltd.

An avid fisherman and camper, he presently resides in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada.

 

JEROME ELIMAR HANNUSCH (Elimar, Theobald, Johannes, Ignac, Josef)

Jerome Hannusch was born at the family rented farmhouse, along the Blair Road, in Waterloo County, Ontario, on May 22, 1937. He was raised to maturity on the farm and in the family home at 7 Augusta, Galt, Ontario.

He attended school at St. Patrick's School in Galt, Ontario, through eight grades and high school at G. C. J. in Galt, Ontario. He was a lifetime resident of Cambridge, Ontario, Canada.

After leaving school he engaged employment as a shipper; six years at Newlands & Co. Ltd.; seventeen years at Galt Metal Ltd.; and, from March 1976, at the Butler Metal Company.

On April 30, 1960, Jerome Hannusch exchanged the vows of marriage with Barbara Beckman, the daughter of Frederick and Anne (From) Beckman. Children: 1) Wayne Hannusch; 2) David Hannusch.

On October 8, 1995, Jerome Hannusch collapsed while at work. He never regained consciousness and died shortly after.

 

RONALD HANNUSCH (Elimar, Theobald, Johannes, Ignac, Josef)

Ronald Hannusch was born at the family farm on the Blair Road, Blair, Waterloo County, Ontario, on January 2, 1939, and raised to maturity in the family home at 7 Augusta, Galt, Ontario. He attended school in Galt, Ontario.

On August 25, 1962, Ronald Hannusch exchanged the vows of marriage with Barbara Payne, the daughter of Herbert and Violet (Mates) Payne. Children: 1) Christine Hannusch; 2) Dawn Hannusch; 3) Paul Hannusch; 4) Maureen Hannusch.

A member of the Canadian Army he served as a medic. Twice sent overseas, he served two years in Germany and later three years in Germany. Back in Canada he served one year in the Yukon and was last assigned to Ottawa, Ontario. Presently a sergeant, he was near appointment as a warrant officer at the time of his untimely accident.

On November 26, 1976, enroute from Ottawa to his home, he became involved in an automobile accident with a tractor-trailer. He died instantly.
